How to check a job advert in Zambia before you apply
Verify the employer's own notice, deadline and application route before sharing documents or paying anyone.

A forwarded poster can claim to recruit for a ministry or company without being issued by it. Zambian public bodies have warned about such adverts. Use this checklist to distinguish a current vacancy from a copied or invented one.
Locate the original announcement
Open the employer's own website from a fresh search or a saved official address. Look for the same title, reference, place of work, deadline and application method. For a government role, check the relevant ministry or agency's published notices instead of assuming that every public vacancy uses one portal.
Zambia's Ministry of Labour and Social Security warned that social-media adverts using its name were fake. It said official government announcements come through the Public Service Management Division, Civil Service Commission and verified ministry platforms. The Ministry of Tourism has also warned about false recruitment messages using its name.
Compare every detail with the source
A genuine organisation name is not enough. Check the exact job title, qualifications, duty station, deadline and the address that receives applications. Old adverts are often recirculated after their deadline. If the notice is a PDF, reach it through the organisation's own site and keep that source page too.
If the advert sends you to a form or email address on another domain, look for that route on the employer's official careers page. Contact the organisation through details found separately if the two versions disagree.
Do not pay a supposed recruiter to secure a role
The Ministry of Tourism says fake recruitment and training advertisements have demanded money from applicants while pretending to represent its departments. Treat a payment request, guaranteed placement or pressure to act in minutes as a reason to stop and verify through the organisation's official channel.
Keep identity documents, banking information and one-time codes out of informal chats. Send only the documents requested by the genuine advert and only through its stated application route.
Record the application you actually made
Save the original advert, reference number, closing date and submission confirmation. Compare later follow-ups with that record. A workzambia.net card is a route to the original source; the employer or agency's current advert remains the place to confirm final details.
If a workzambia.net link is broken or an advert has closed, send us the URL through the contact page so we can recheck and correct it.

Frequently asked questions
Is a ministry poster in a WhatsApp group enough to trust a vacancy?
No. Find the same current announcement on the ministry or agency's own published channel and use the application route given there.
What if the official site does not show the advertised role?
Do not send money or documents yet. Contact the organisation using details from its official site and ask whether the recruitment exercise is genuine.
